I think in any sign of imminent danger. I would immediately attach myself to Ray Mears or Bear Grylls They seem to be able to surrvive most common dangers. lol

Wow - some great info here - very comprehensive. Must admit that I didnt know of half of these types of heating. I'm in the UK and whilst its cold here its not quite as extreme as some places (usually anyway!) so my standard central heating is usually sufficient, albeit somewhat costly with rising prices!! Thanks for the insight

Hi Alex
I didnt realize there were so many ways to provide heat.
It is amazing the amount of specialised knowlege that is available.
You covered quiet a bit in your post and I bet there are a few others as well.
I now feel like an adventure in the snow in Canada or Alaska.
Good luck in the challenge
Best wishes

Hi Alex

What a great site and glad that you were able to focus on something outside of the IM niche. I am so very lucky that I live where we don't have to plan in great detail for the kinds of disasters that happen elsewhere but having the information is still of great benefit.

Wow, it never gets that cold here to need a fireplace. We sometimes use a bit of heating but never have snow. I guess with global cooling (latest rumour going round) we might get some snow in a few years time. I'll be sure to start cutting the firewood so that it is dry in time.

I'm always open to learning new information and I got a lot from your piece on heating. I am familiar with most of them but your pellet stove was unfamiliar... I hope we never have a disaster of any magnitude... Thank you though for the education. it is always best to be informed.
Stopped by on my 11th hour visit for the 100 comment challenge.
Best,
Elizabeth

Hi Alex,

Heat is definitely one of those needed sources through which we'll warm up our nights with. In case of disaster, bundling up in the winter is quite a struggle and one which we'll be traumatized with. Your tips here are worthy of looking at as it's one of the essential in preparing when emergency occurs. Thanks for sharing.

See you beyond the 100th comment!
